Meet Our Doctor
Kathrym España
MD, FAAP
Kathrym España MD was born in Los Angeles, California but moved to Venezuela with her parents, both from Venezuela, at the age of one. She returned to the US at age 13 and has resided in Texas ever since.
Dr. España graduated with honors from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Dance in 2000. She was then accepted to the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas where she obtained her medical degree in 2004 and completed her Pediatric Residency training in 2007.
She stayed at UTMB for the next 5 years as faculty member and Clinical Assistant Professor and was awarded the Top Doc award by the medical students out of 100+ doctors. Dr. Espana then moved to Houston, Texas where she worked with Texas Children’s Pediatrics for 3 years.
Dr. España is Board Certified in Pediatrics, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. España is married to Dr. Jonathan Espana, a local OB/Gyn doctor in Houston, and is the mother of two children.
She has a strong belief in preventive medicine and prides herself in always taking the time to help educate parents in ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle for their children.
In her spare time Dr. España enjoys dancing (ballet and modern), theater and yoga.

Direct Primary Care Medicine is growing rapidly throughout the country. It entails a “Concierge-like model” limiting the practice to a much smaller patient base, so that each patient receives a far greater level of service.
With a much smaller patient base, at Concierge Pediatrics of Houston your doctor is able to schedule far fewer patients per day than the typical 30-40 patients per day often seen in most pediatric practices. Therefore, there is no wait for an appointment and there is no time spent in a waiting room. The appointment also lasts as long as necessary, until all relevant issues have been properly addressed.
Another feature included in our Direct Primary Care model of practice is that calls during and after hours are answered by your doctor.
There is no answering service personnel to try to explain the child’s problem to and no surrogate advice-givers. In addition, if your child’s condition warrants urgent evaluation as determined by your doctor, you will be seen regardless of the day of the week. There are no more “convenience” visits to the emergency room. The only emergency room visits are due to true emergencies that cannot be handled in an office setting. The dynamics of this practice also enables us to focus more on wellness and disease prevention than most pediatric practices.
